Research Conclusion

Our idea for our TV show is to have a talk show that is based around the style of the Graham Norton Show. We are planning for a well known band called ‘Grafton Ash’ to perform live as part of our show, and we will be interviewing guests from the Short film ‘The Thornton Heath Poltergeist’. This because a member of our group Georgia Sheward was actually in the film and thought It would be a great opportunity to get the director and some of the cast into the studio.

Our chosen research methods were effective because they allowed us to gather thoughts and opinions from other people. One of our research methods was a survey which was based on VTs and what people like to see in them. This allowed us to understand what people look for when watching a short clip in a TV show and also how long they except it to go on for before they start to get bored. The main thing that stood out was that with VTs, It all depends on the content of the VT to maintain the audiences interest. Yes, It can get boring for someone watching a video for too long, but as long as its funny and interesting it doesn’t matter too much.

From the secondary research, I mainly took the chance to research the best ways how to light a fashion show runway as in our Rupaul’s Drag race this is what we will be doing. I found a few youtube videos that are linked to my ‘Secondary Research’ tab that clearly show how to avoid shadows from the model by evenly spacing lights to make this possible.

The main findings from my research was that people like VTs that are entertaining and that don’t last too long. With VT’s its all about the content of it that will make it enjoyable for our audiences. They can on for as long as 5 minutes but should only be done if the people watching won’t get bored and will get easily distracted. If a VT that you think isn’t made to make enjoyable for an audience, It should only last 1-2 minutes.

Our research has definitely developed our idea in order to make it better. It hasn’t changed much from our initial idea but has definitely given us more ideas how to make it look more professional. For example, we have been watching many Graham Norton Show episodes to get an idea how they switch from the interview over to the live performance.
