Risk Assessment – Cameron

Risk Risk level Prevent
Water and other liquids This is a medium level risk as spilt drinks can damage equipment , however it is easy to prevent. To prevent this, we will not drink in the radio studio although if a drink is needed it will be water in a closed bottle.
Cables This is a low level risk. Cables are a hazard as you can trip on them or get them tangled in your chair, this could cause the cable to damage. To prevent this we will tape the cables down, if this cannot be done we will keep them tidy, untangled and keep an eye on them.
Sound volume This is a low level risk as if the volume goes too high it could damage our ears due to the loud headphones, however this is easily prevented. To Prevent this we will be careful not to knock the sound up too loud and we will be sensible with it.

Research – Jack

The remit of 1Xtra is to play the best in contemporary black music with a strong emphasis on live music and supporting new UK artists. The schedule also offers a bespoke news service, regular discussion programmes and specially commissioned documentaries relevant to the young target audience (15-24 year olds), particularly – although not exclusively – those from ethnic minorities.

People like rap music because they can connect to it. Rap is seen as a way of life, which might be many peoples opinion, but the fans of rap and rappers know the place and the importance it holds in their lives.

We also made an online survey using Survey Monkey which allowed us to receive some customer feedback into the type of music and radio stations they like to listen to. Below shows are questions and the results for each one.

Influence

The influence for this show is BBC Radio 1xtra. This is because of the way in which the radio station structures itself as well as the different types of grime music that is played to their listeners on their station. This has also allowed us to experiment with ideas to make sure we reach our target audience and to attract further listeners.
