Here shows some of the results we received from our online survey asking people what they expect from a radio show and the content they like Radio shows to include. We received a variety in answers which has helped us to ensure that we are thinking about are audience which is very important for us in order to attract listeners. What we have concluded from our results is that people expect to have interviews in a radio show they listen to as well as games in order to make it entertaining for them. We also found that the majority of people will listen to a radio show between 20-30 minutes which means that people are most likely to listen to our whole radio show as it will last for half an hour. We have also researched as part of this survey that people like to listen to Radio online, we therefore will be streaming our show live on the internet. In order for our audience to access this, we will provide everyone at the college a link that will take them directly to the show to avoid them any hassle trying to find the correct show online.

Within our radio show we are including a short Pre-recorded podcast. This will include a voice-over talking about sports relief and what they do as a charity, how you can get involved, how to donate and how it can change someones life. The short speech will also include some music in the background over the talking and will last for approximately 2-3 minutes. When listening to other examples, we will ensure that the person talking sounds very passionate about wanting people to donate to the charity, and feels great sympathy for all people across the world who are in desperate need for support and helpful in giving people the correct ways to donate.

The charity we have chosen is Sports Relief. This is a biennial charity event from Comic Relief, in association with BBC Sport, which brings together the worlds of sport and entertainment to raise money to help vulnerable people in both the UK and the world’s poorest countries. Sports Relief has raised more than £1bn since the charity was founded 30 years ago, with more than £78m raised by the end of Friday’s live show in 2015.

The sports relief television programme begins in the afternoon, with CBBC having various related reports and money raising events. This is all in-between the regular programmes, but after the six o’clock news, the usual BBC one schedule is suspended at 7pm in favour of a live telethon. Many celebrities including David Walliams, Alesha Dixon and Tess Daly have hosted the show and do the work for free, as do the crew, with studio space and production facilities donated by the BBC.

Our Speech Based Package will be very similar to how to Children in Need do it. Although Children in Needs are broadcasted and the chicken

Speech Based Package Script – Jack

Jack: Hello. I work very close with Sports Relief to ensure that we can reach the potential in raising significant funds to help those in desperate need. I have been working with the charity for the past 5 years and have seen many peoples lives completely reborn all because of your fundraising events and generous donations. However, we can still do more, to reach our full potential, and here’s how you can help.

When you fundraise for Sport Relief, you support those living with mental health issues and provide lifesaving maternal healthcare for mothers and babies. You help those at risk of trafficking or domestic violence and join the global fight to end malaria. If you do all this, and so much more, this allows Sports Relief to use the money you raise to support projects on the ground, here in the UK and across all over the world. The money you raise also helps vulnerable people, to live happier, healthier and safer lives.

The police receive, on average, over 100 calls relating to domestic violence every hour. On average two women are killed every week because of domestic violence. It’s a big problem. That’s why we’re doing something about it, and have been for a long time. Since Sports Relief began, we’ve helped support over 900,000 people experiencing domestic violence.

In 2003, we helped to set up the National Domestic Violence Helpline. We continue to fund it to this day. From counselling and helplines to safe accommodation, your money helps to give those living with domestic violence a way out, a safe space and the support they need to move on with their lives.

Thirty pounds will enable three isolated people, living with dementia in the UK, to attend a support group, socialise and feel less alone. Donating fifty pounds is enough to provide a child living on the streets of Liberia, with everything they need to go to school for more than a year. One hundred and fifty pounds could provide six malnourished children in Liberia with a month’s supply of life-saving food.

Simply get active in whatever way suits you, get sponsored, get people to pay to take part and get people to donate for a good cause. You will not regret this decision.

We are here to improve lives, starting with your own.

Treatment – Tom

For The Charity Match we will speak to the Team captain of AFC Stratford (Tom Harper) and also Jack Smith on their thoughts on how the match went and they’ll talk about how individual players did and how much money was raised from the match.

Jack will then go on to give information on what our charity works on helping out with and also what will be done with the money that we gain from the Charity Match. He will also give information on who we will be helping so that it becomes more personal so that the people can find out more of a back story into someone struggling in a poverty-ridden country.

Finally I will research Gossip and Transfer talk that is surrounding football at that time so that it adds more football content to the show and gives the presenters more to speak about on the show.

Target Audience

The Target Audience for our Radio show is ideally people who have an interest in football , as this will be the main focus on our show as we discuss The Charity Match, The Charity we will be focusing on and also other football transfer rumours, Etc.

Genre/Style

The style of our show is a football talk show as the majority of the things we are doing are to do with football(e.g the match and the show) . The show we are doing is based on sports show such as TalkSport ,but instead of doing all of sport we will base ours on Football where we will speak about Transfers and also our own personal match.

The songs we have used for this show can be seen as being Football songs e.g You’ll Never Walk Alone and Mr Blue Sky(which is used by Birmingham City FC) and Stormzy And Pogba-Adidas Football Advert. The other 2 songs were official FIFA world cup 2010 songs so are the correct genre.

The Jingle is also related to football as it is The Champions League Theme song with audio added on top to create a football jingle.

Influence

The Speech based package script is influenced by a Children in Need VT. All podcasts from Children in Need that are broadcasted in Novembers show always have a famous actor talking over what you see, about how these people live their lives and especially how you can donate. For our TV show, we are going to do something very similar to how Children in Need do it, and put a pre recorded speech on top of a running filmed video by ourselves. However, for the radio show, we will just broadcast the recording because your obviously not going to be able to watch it as your listening to our show.

Our Radio show also takes influence from the sports radio show TalkSPORT, where it will include interviews and always relate to Sports however we will mainly focus on Football, the charity Sports Relief and our Football event that took place in order for us to raise money.
